Trail Ridge Road
Wednesday morning we set off to go see the mountains. We took the kids and Chris' cousin Brad and headed up Trail Ridge Road. We put a movie in for the kids thinking they would not really be "into" the scenery yet at their age. But, they proved us wrong. As we got higher up on the mountains, they were telling each other to look down. And anytime we passed any snow - Creed would let us know! Unfortunately - we did not get to see any wildlife this time - but it was a beautiful day up in the mountains.
The view from Rock Cut. We took this trail up with the kids so they could climb on some of the rocks. Look at all that snow on those mountains and in August! It was beautiful - but the air was THIN! Mommy had to take it slow up this path!
Creed, Chris and Kady on top of one of the rocks they climbed. I know it doesn't look high up - but it was quite a task to get them all up there. And it was also VERY windy - so expressions and hair go out the window with these pictures!
A family picture at Rock Cut on Trail Ridge Road!
This is at the summit on Trail Ridge Road. I love this picture! Now before anyone calls DCFS for child endangerment - there is a small cliff just a few feet down from the rock wall.
Kady and Creed on the path that leads up to one of the highest points on Trail Ridge. I think the elevation is around 12 thousand. Unfortunately - we did not make it up to the sign to get a picture. The wind was awful!! We got this high and then started back down the trail.
This is how Creed got to ride most of the trek up and down the mountain - on Daddy's back. Poor thing! :)
Kady walking down the path back to the summit house. She is quite the trooper. This is after she had fallen and bummed up a knee.
Another view from Trail Ridge Road. God sure does magnificent work!!
