We have planned for a couple of months to go to St. Louis and meet my brother's family for a couple of days. Well, on Sunday night Chris caught the wonderful flu bug and was out of commission on Monday as well. After a doctor visit for Creed and Kady that morning, the doctor said Kady was good to go and that she should not be carrying anything. So - Kady and I left Tuesday morning for St. Louis without Creed or daddy. We met my brother's family at Laclede's Landing for a quick lunch and then headed to the Arch. We had planned to go up - but Kady had other plans. She quickly let us know that she was NOT going to go up in it. She was more than happy to go into the Arch (at the bottom) but she WAS NOT going up. So - we looked through the museum and then headed to the Magic House.
The Magic House is AWESOME! There is SO much to do and such a variety for kids of ALL ages. They even had things to keep parents occupied! Kady had a great time and we left only because it was closing and they were going to kick us out! I have already decided that next summer I will have to take Creed and Kady and just spend the day.
After a fun night swimming in the pool at the hotel, we went to Six Flags on Wednesday. Chris was feeling much better and we just happened to have some friends headed that way as well, so he joined us there that morning. Kady has been SO excited about going to Six Flags. But, the excitement did not last long. She rode on the Scooby-Doo ride with her cousins and as soon as she got off - she told me she didn't want to ride anything else and was done! (I guess it must have been a little scary in there!) After MUCH convincing - we got her to ride the log ride with us. We were good until the end. We kept telling her it was like going down a slide - but she let us know when we got off that it WAS NOT! She cried just a little and again said she was "DONE RIDING RIDES". She did enjoy SOME of the park. She liked driving the cars and riding all the rides in the Bugs Bunny area. (That's where it is ALL kids rides or carnival rides basically) The best moment came at the end of the day when she got to go up on stage with the Bugs Bunny and Sylvester characters and listen to a story. She was all smiles!!! And of course, the disposable camera I had taken into the park with me had no more pictures left at that point! Oh well, we will always have the memory. :)
We have decided that the next time we go to Six Flags - Chris will have to take Creed or someone else with him to ride the roller coasters while I stick close to Kady in the "mild ride zone".
Here are a few pictures from our adventures. We had a GREAT time - now we just need time to recover!
Isaiah, Kady, Luke, and Millie checking out the pod you ride in to go up into the Arch. This is as close as Kady got to the "real thing"
Kady and Isaiah playing in the water area at the Magic House.
Kady and her Uncle Lance (the librarian) playing "library" at the Magic House. They have a whole town set up with tons of things the kids can do!
Kady is in the "make it and take it room". I think she could have spent all day in there! She is designing a caterpillar.
We had a few "hair raising" experiences as well.
Kady and her cousin Isaiah were the first to try!
Then Millie!
And lastly, Aunt Sally joined in the fun!
We had a great time! If I have any worthwhile pictures from Six Flags I will post them when I get the pictures developed. Thanks Lance, Sal, Luke, Millie and Isaiah - we had a BLAST!
