Friday was a busy day and our last day in Colorado. We still wanted to go up to Bear Lake (inside RMNP), do a little shopping and have one final trip around on the go-karts. We ended up getting a later start than expected - but we were all still tired from the previous days happenings. So - we headed up to Bear Lake. We trekked around the lake on the path (and a few times off of it - don't tell) and then Chris and I thought we might head up to the Alberta Falls. We took Kady with us - but left Creed as it was a mile hike and the trail was not fit for a stroller. We made it halfway and Kady had to go potty. We knew better than to suggest finding a spot in the woods - so we headed back up the trail with Kady on daddy's back. I knew we made the right decision when she was completely disguisted by the "bathroom" she had to use. We went down to another spot along a different lake and had a picnic lunch. Then - we headed back into Estes to enjoy our last day in the mountains. After Creed's nap we headed down to the go-karts one last time. It was raining a little so the "road" was a little slippery. Kady and I had a little fun with that and we beat Chris and Creed (we didn't tell Kady he let us win). Then - after a good supper and some packing we headed downtown for some last minute shopping. Chris and Bill wanted to get a shirt that said "I Climbed Long's Peak" and there were not many. I guess it is quite a feat!! After spending WAY too much money (I bought a few Christmas gifts too) we headed home to get the kids to bed and pack up the van. It was quite a depressing evening. Chris and I both DO NOT want to go back home. We would love to escape to the mountains everyday!!!
We got up at 4 AM this morning and headed east. We are near Nebraska City tonight and will head out in the morning.
Bill and Chris on the summit of Long's Peak. Look for his post soon.
Our family on Bear Lake.

Another picture at Bear Lake. We like crawling on the rocks - can you tell?

Kady resting on a rock on our trail walk to Alberta Falls

Creed and Kady are "redecorating" Rocky Mountain National Park. They were picking up rocks in one area and carrying them over to another area while we were finishing up lunch. The problem with this fun is that they were in a "restoration area" with a sign that read - "keep off". But hey, my kids don't know how to read, right?
