Summer Swim
We started swim lessons last week. It is quite the site when we pull up to the Pool. Six swimsuit clad kids come piling out of my van each day. Kady is doing great at lessons - she has learned to swim fairly well so far and is doing a great job of putting her head in the water. Something she was not very interested in doing previously. Creed - on the other hand - got dressed the first day - put his feet in the water on the side of the pool - listened and followed directions - and then was told he could jump in the pool. When he jumped in and realized that he could NOT touch unless his mouth and nose were under the water - he was DONE. He slid back behind the gutter and that is where he stayed for the next 15 minutes of class. The next day - he got all dressed - got right up to the gutter - didn't even get near the water - and sat down. He was NOT moving. The next day - he told me he didn't care if he ever learned to swim and he was not going to get in the water that day. Chris and I discussed it and decided that we would not push the issue. So - he is just going to swim lessons everyday and sitting in the sun, enduring the heat with the rest of the mothers and watching all the other kids swim. Now - I would be IN THE POOL if I had the option - but he could care less if he was cooling off in the water. Oh well - we will try again next year.
Kady "swimming" with her teacher's help. As you can tell, we still need to work on kicking our feet and tucking our chin in. :) But not bad for a beginner if you ask this mamma.
Kady swam from the 7 foot end to the 3 foot end with her noodle - all by herself. She was SO proud of herself when she FINALLY reached the other side. She took awhile - but she did it!
Kady's big feat was going down the slide. She stood at the top for a LONG time - but she finally mustered up the courage to come down.
